Terms of service

These terms govern your use of idphoto.us (the "site"), including its guides, photo tools, and downloads. By using the site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

What we provide

idphoto.us helps you make passport, visa, and ID photos. Our tools check and crop your photo to the official size for the U.S. and 60+ other countries, and our guides explain the requirements.

Everything on the site is currently free, including downloading your finished photo. We plan to charge a one-time fee per photo for downloads in the future. Our guides, and uploading a photo to see a processed preview with its measurements, will stay free.

We may add, change, or remove features at any time.

Payments

We don't take payments yet. When paid downloads launch, we'll announce it on the site and update these terms first, and these rules will apply:

• The fee to download a processed photo will be $7.99 (USD) per photo. The price is always shown before you pay.
• Each purchase includes one processed digital photo and an A4 print sheet of 20 photos, cropped and ready for submission.
• Payment is a one-time charge. There are no subscriptions or recurring fees.
• Payments are processed by our third-party payment provider. We never see or store your full card number.
• Your photo is available to download right after your payment succeeds.

Refunds

Once paid downloads launch, if a government agency rejects a photo you bought from us, you can get a full refund of your purchase price. Request it within 30 days of purchase through our contact page, with your transaction ID or purchase email and proof of the rejection. Approved refunds go back to your original payment method within 5 to 10 business days. See our refund policy for the full details, including requests for other reasons.

Your responsibilities

When using the site, you agree to:

• upload only photos of yourself, or photos you have the legal right to process, such as of a child you're authorized to act for;
• make sure your photos are real and unaltered, apart from the cropping and adjustments our tools make;
• not use the site to create fraudulent documents, steal anyone's identity, or impersonate anyone;
• not upload inappropriate, offensive, or illegal content;
• not attempt to reverse-engineer, hack, overload, or disrupt the site or its systems;
• not send spam, malicious code, or unlawful content through our forms.

Not an official service

idphoto.us is an independent, private service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the U.S. government, the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, or any other government agency. Nothing on the site is legal advice.

Photo acceptance

The reviewing government agency alone decides whether to accept your photo. Even a photo prepared exactly as described on this site can be rejected. We can't promise that any photo will be accepted. If a photo you bought from us is rejected, your remedy is a refund under our refund policy. We aren't responsible for delays, government fees, or other consequences of a rejected photo or application. Always confirm the current requirements with the official source before you apply.

Accuracy of information

We work hard to keep our guides accurate and current (see our editorial policy), but requirements change and mistakes can happen. Information is provided for general guidance only. If our content differs from an official source, the official source is correct.

Your photos and privacy

Your photos remain yours. By uploading a photo, you give us a temporary, limited permission to process it only to provide the service.

• The photo editor uploads your photo to our server and our photo processing provider, as described in our privacy policy.
• Your result page, and our record of it, is deleted automatically after 7 days. Download your photo promptly. After that, we can't recover it.
• We don't sell or share your photos, or use them for anything other than providing the service.

Our content

The site's text, design, graphics, and code belong to idphoto.us or its licensors. You may share links to our pages and quote short passages with attribution. Please don't republish whole pages or substantial parts without permission.

Third-party links

We link to official government websites and other resources. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or practices.

Service availability

We work to keep the site available, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted service. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue the site or any feature. We'll give reasonable notice of significant changes when we can.

Suspension

We may suspend or block your access to the site if you break these terms, behave abusively, or we suspect fraud.

Disclaimer of warranties

The site and tools are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, idphoto.us and its operators won't be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site, including rejected or delayed passport, visa, or ID applications, lost fees, travel costs, or other immigration-related consequences. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the purchase the claim relates to, or zero if you didn't pay us anything.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from these terms or the site will be resolved by the courts of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date above, and we'll post a notice on the site for significant changes. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the new terms.
