How our tools handle your photos
Photos of your face are personal data, so we tell you plainly where each one goes. The passport photo editor uploads your photo, because face detection and background checks run on a server. Before uploading, your browser re-saves the photo, which removes hidden metadata such as GPS location. Your result page expires after 7 days.
Before you start
The tools crop and resize. They don't retouch your face. The passport photo editor may replace a background that fails its check, and it tells you when it does; many agencies don't accept photos changed that way, so a good original is still the safest choice. Start with a well-lit photo against a plain white or off-white wall, and read the passport photo requirements if you're unsure what's allowed.
