What we do

idphoto.us helps people get passport and ID photos right the first time. We build free tools that crop photos to official sizes and shrink files to fit upload limits, and we write guides that explain the official rules in plain English.

We started the site because photo problems are one of the most common, and most avoidable, reasons applications get delayed. The official requirements are public, but they're spread across several government pages and written for officials as much as applicants. We bring them together, explain them clearly, and link back to the source every time.

What we believe

  • Your photos are yours. The passport photo editor uploads your photo only to process it, and your result page expires after 7 days. We never sell your photos.
  • Accuracy over volume. We'd rather publish a few pages that are correct and current than many that aren't. Every guide cites its official sources and shows when it was last updated.
  • Honesty about limits. No website can guarantee a photo will be accepted. The government agency handling your application makes that decision. We say so plainly, and we tell you what each tool does and doesn't check.

Who runs idphoto.us

idphoto.us is an independent website owned and run by Navnit Rai. Our guides are written and maintained by the idphoto.us Editorial Team and reviewed by the PixPassport.com team, which also provides the photo processing service behind our passport photo editor. We research official government sources, test our tools on real photos and devices, and update pages when the rules change.

We are not lawyers, government officials, or professional photographers, and we don't claim to be. When a question depends on your personal circumstances, we point you to the official agency that can answer it.

Independence

idphoto.us is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, or any other government agency. We don't submit applications for you, and we don't charge fees. Government application fees are paid only to the government.

How we're funded

Our tools and guides are currently free to use, with no accounts and no ads. If that changes — for example, if we add advertising or an optional paid service — we'll say so clearly on the site and update our privacy policy, terms, and refund policy first. Commercial relationships will never influence what our guides say about official requirements.
